Yuri!!! On Ice (Season 1 Anime)

Title: Yuri!!! On Ice

Date Aired: Oct 2016

Genres: Sports, comedy

Ongoing/Completed: Completed

Plot Summary: A Grand Prix finalist had lost one of the biggest contests in figure skating. Feeling defeated, Yuuri gains weight and stops skating as much. One day a friend asks him to perform a 5-time world champion's routine, in which (while fat) they record and post. The video goes viral causing the champ himself to become Yuuri's mentor and coach. Will Yuuri be able to regain his confidence and become just as great, if not greater than his mentor?

Review: The animation is not bad and the storyline is easy to follow. If figure skating men are your thing, then this anime will not disappoint. The movements animators have drawn for the characters' routines are smooth and not as stiff and not as stiff as one would expect in a dancing anime (Discoteque just popped into my head... deep emotion, deep emotion [Rosario + Vampire]).

There is no ecchi or smut, or even any type of romance (there might be 1 or 2, but it is subtle that one may miss it). The characters' profiles explain neatly why the figure skaters do what they do, what their passions are, and what their end goal may be. There are many comedy sports animes out there, this anime is not very original. However, Yuri!!! On Ice has enough appeal to be extremely popular.

This anime is for everyone who likes comedy, sports animes, everyone else, steer clear. This anime was not meant for me, but I want to be fair. I will not watch the movie or the next season.

Opinion: Like I said, I wouldn't watch it again or watch either the movie or the 2nd season. My sister is into the anime and I told her I would write a blog about it. Honestly, I expected stiff movements in the animation, but this was fine, actually better than that. Nothing is wrong with Yuri!!!. It's me, not Yu(ri!!). Damn, it sounds like I just broke up with an anime.

Rating: I give Yuri!!! 5 triple axels over 10. Again, very neutral...

Trinity Seven (Anime)

Title: Trinity Seven Anime
I don't own this pic, but it's soooo cool!
Date Aired: October 2014

Genre(s): Comedy, harem, magic, fantasy, ecchi, romance, school, shounen, supernatural, biblical, action

Completed or Ongoing: Completed

Plot Summary: A young boy ends up surviving the end of the world to awaken to another world. In it he ends up meeting 7 powerful witches (all females, of course). When enrolls into their school, various events occur in which he fights to prevent the destruction of this world.

Review: The characters personalities and relationships meld very well together. For a harem, it is important that each character to have a strong relationship with the MC (main character) and each other. A little rivalry isn't bad either, but a complete dislike for all harem members is a turn off. The illustration is what attracted me to this anime in the first place (sorry, but I know my biases) The animation had clean lines, nice colors and breasts... Leading on to the smut. Very ecchi. Romance has to be there and the relationships the MC had with the eight (hint hint) was again, strong. The storyline is beautiful and can get confusing, but if you were following along you would be asking yourself "where's season 2?" There are plenty of mangas that have magical harems that save the world, so this storyline isn't 100% original. For example, Shinmai Maou no Testament, Seiken Tsukaino World Break, Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut, and Masou Gakuen HxH (check out the blog for HxH) to name a few. It doesn't mean that it doesn't bring a certain freshness o the genre. With all the ecchi, harem, and romance the question got to be what is censorship like? Well, it is censored. I'm sure there is an uncensored version, but I haven't seen it. The funny thing is that Trinity Seven is censored to make you think that it's not censored. When the clothes rip, they are either ripped strategically or something conveniently covers them. This anime is worth watching. If you decide to binge watch this anime, it would be time well spent.

Opinion: OMG, this anime is sexy and smutty and just the way I like it. if it wasn't for the censorship it would be at 100, but it is not and I don't care. The storyline more than makes up for it. The powers each character possesses depends on what sin they stood for. Yes! This anime is slightly biblical in that it references the 7 deadly sins: lust, greed, envy, pride, sloth, wrath, and gluttony. Each of them are experts in their respective sin and has to portray the opposite of their sin, so lust is "virginal". This is one manga you would hate to miss.

Rating: I give this anime 9 ripped panties out of 10. Just because of those censors. Damn you censors!

As always, I do not own this image!

Biblical: Any Christian/Catholic-based or bible-based animanga. Heavy on the Jesus, God, crosses, bibles, and biblical stories, characters, plots, etc. Seikon no Qwaser was a choice between biblical or breastmilk...guess who won?

Tales of Zestiria the X 2 (anime)

Title: Tales of Zestiria the X 2

Aired Date: Jan 2017

Genre(s): Action, adventure, fantasy, role-playing game

Completed or Ongoing: Completed

Plot Summary: A continuation from part 1. Sorey and friends continue to find and purify malevolence and hunt the source of calamity. This series gives a preview into the background of why and how calamity came about this time around and its possible defeat.

Review: I didn't review part 1. This anime is based on the game, if you have played the game, I have heard that while the anime is not that far off from the game version, it still gets it wrong. I have not played the game (I want to though) and will one day. There are references to Berseria because from what I understand, that is the prequel...(I guess that could be consider a spoiler???). This anime had its moments and surprises. If you have ever played anything from Tales, some events may even be predictable. The storyline is not very original for the series, although the characters profile is good. Each has their own secrets and it gets slowly revealed as the episodes progress. No ecchi, no romance, and definitely no smut, so censorship need not apply. The animation is the same as the game. I have no issue with it. On if it was worth watching, that depends on whether you are a Tales fan. Everyone else, may not like it.

Opinion: This anime wasn't bad. It does vary from my usual genres, but I have been a fan of Tales since Symphonia. When I heard that there was an anime, I could not pass it up. Honestly, there isn't much to say about this anime that needs mentioning. Watch it and make your own opinions, but by me telling y'all to watch it, tells you that at least it is watchable. If you want more action, look elsewhere.

Rating: I would give this anime 7 out of 10. Like I said, it is watchable and may make you want to play the game, but if you want more action, go somewhere else.

As always, I do not own this image, but apparently Illuminate Minami owns this one.
