Ousama (King's) Game (Anime)

Title: Ousama Game; King's Game

Anime/Manga: Anime

Date Aired: 10/2017

Ongoing/Completed: Ongoing

Season/Episode: Episode 10 (as of 12/11/17)

Genres: school, tragedy, drama, horror, mystery, supernatural, psychological

Opening Song: "Feed the Fire" - Coldrain

Ending Song: "Lost Paradise" - Pile

Plot Summary:
A high school boy gets transferred to a new school and is completely anti-social to the classmates who are trying to get to know him. Soon everyone gets a text from someone called the "King" who makes unreasonable requests from the students of the class. Thinking it's a joke, they ignore the texts. Unfortunately, not following the King's orders are grounds for punishment and that punishment is an ugly death. It could be asphyxiation or even dismemberment. It turns out that the MC was the last survivor for the last King's Game that made him transfer to this school. Will this current class survive? Will he be the last one standing again? Or will this be his last King's Game?

Review:
This anime is tough to get through. The reason it's so difficult is because one can lose themselves in the timeline. This anime tells the story of when the MC was in his class in the past or his first King's Game and in this present class. After receiving plenty of clues about the Game the 1st go round, (there is no preseason for this), the MC tries to stop the Game this time around with those clues from the past and current ones. His success can save lives, but how many can he save?

Opinion:
Ousama Game is decent if you can follow along with it. Trying to piece the mystery of what the Game is about and who is behind it is almost a Scooby Doo chase, except people really die and the way they die is supernatural enough to not be Mr. Jones in a ghost costume trying to scam someone. Ousama is bloody, gory and depressing. Surviving is not for everyone or is it that not everyone can survive? Either way there are 4 rules:
                          1) All student in the class must participate
                          2) After receiving an order from the King, the order must be completed in 24 hours
                          3) People who don't complete their orders will be punished
                          4) Withdrawing from the game midway is not allowed
Think you can survive King's Game?

Rating:
I'll give Ousama (King's) Game a 7

out of ten.

Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Anime)

Title: Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu

Genre: Action, adventure, drama, psychological, fantasy, thriller

Ongoing or Completed: Ongoing

Plot Summary: An otaku dies on his way back home on one of his "must survive or die" days of going out. Only difference is that he dies on his way back home. He somehow gets reincarnated into a role playing game kinda alternate world. This is his adventure in a world where he receives a special power. The power to restart his life whenever he dies.

Review: This anime starts slow. If you have patience, unlike me, you could catch the spark of why this anime is one of the hottest of this season. Amazingly, it went past the usual 12 episode rounds. Last I checked it was on episode 20. Sorry guys, but I could not invest anytime into this one. If I had liked it more, you would have had a better review.

Opinion: The reason I decided to watch this anime was because I'm also interested in the psychological animangas. This is out of the scope of themes that I wanted to review for this blog, but I see some spark over this anime and I can't help but to join in on the fun.

Some animangas don't last long for me. The first time I watched this anime, I was confused. I actually stopped watching it at episode 5. It just got annoying to go through what the character goes through when his power first presents itself. Some people call it redundant, but I'm an anomaly.

Rating: This anime theme has been done before. It's kind of a hard theme to pull of so I do give the makers kudos for catching fire. It's just not my cup of tea. The beginning is what can make and break a lot of animangas with me. The storyline/plot, character likeability, and an interesting conflict can really set an animanga into a firestorm. Sorry with all the fire analogies. It's a heat wave on this side of the planet and I'm feeling it hard.

I give this anime a 3 out of 10. Like I said, it wasn't for me. I stopped at episode 5 and skipped around episodes 13 and 14. Then I peaked at episode 17 then called it quits. I tried. I really did.

If somehow your taste in animanga is along mine, than don't waste your time. Other than that, watch at your own risk. I may give this anime another try, but it won't be anytime soon.

Adventure: it is a genre in which the main character goes on a journey in a new world. Kinda like a role playing game. You know, Final Fantasy? Chrono Trigger? Dungeons and Dragons? I mean the title loosely translates to "Starting Life in Another World". Can it get more obvious than that?

Thriller: animangas that evoke strong feelings of suspense, anxiety, etc

Once again, I don't own the image.

100% Perfect Girl (Manhwa)

Title: 100% Perfect Girl

Author: Wan

Genre(s): Action, manhwa, mature, psychological, romance, shoujo

Completed or Ongoing: Completed

Plot Summary: This story focuses on the romance of a young couple. They go through a lot of shit because, you know, he's king of an European country. She's just a "plain" Korean girl with nothing but her ambition to be an artist.

Review: This manhwa may make you cry. If you have seen Kdoramas (see Terminology), then you know how they storyline can be. This manhwa might not be for everyone. While it does say mature, it isn't exactly that bad. It could be because we are exposed to this stuff heavily in the American culture. So much so that I and maybe others, may be desensitized to the whole thing. Sex is implied in the art. Rape is more descriptive, but I would still say that there is worse in smut.

The story is frustrating. I have said it many times and I'll say it again; I will not give spoilers. But.... DAMN!!!

Opinion: The MC female is by any means "plain". What,?!The start of 100% is kinda slow, but picks up. There are fillers in weird places. I'll say that this manhwa made me cry at least twice. It got me angry, mad, sad, and frustrated all "at the same damn time"! (sorry Bad Girls Club reference) Truthfully, around chapter 55, I was hanging around for the sex scene, I wanted to see how the artist would bring it to life. I was disappointed.

I hate virgin romance novels/mangas/animes/manhwas. FUCK!!!! I have nothing on this kind of romance. I just feel that ALL humans should be aware and comfortable with their body and sex. Virgins and the stereotypes of virgins play on the belief that if you're sexual you're dirty, but only if you're a female. I'll save that rant for another day. If sex was what you were looking for, it's not here. If it's romance, you might be in the right place. Depending on whether or not you want to take that emotional roller coaster ride.

Rating: The illustrations wasn't too bad. The storyline pissed me off, The characters' develop into completely different people in the end. I think it's original, but then again, I haven't read as many manhwas as I've read mangas. In mangas, I wouldn't say that they go this far, again, I could be wrong. The fact that the genre was psychological could also explain why it's so deep.

It censors like no tomorrow. It implies a lot. The romance is decent, the mature level was a bit weak. I'm surprised that I actually continued to read it. I thought about quitting a few times, but the lack of sex scenes kept me going until I realized that it was way, and I mean WAY too close to the end to drop it now. I think that may have been the point. If so, kudos to you Wan. Kudos to you.

I give "100% Perfect Girl", a 5 out of 10. Uhhhh, I can't even think of a rating image to give this.

Read if you want, but if you don't like it, you had been warned

NeW tErMiNoLoGy AlErT!!!

Mature: Supposed to be for people over the age of 17. Usually up my alley depending on the storyline and art.

Oh, did I mention that I'm big on animanga art? Unfortunately, I judge a lot of animanga by it's art. It's not a good thing to do and I acknowledge my bias...

Also, I do not own the pic

Puzzle (Manga)

Title: Puzzle

Author: Morie Satoshi

Genre(s): Romance, smut, one shot, psychological, school life, shoujo

Ongoing or Completed?: Completed

Summary: The female MC is looking for the missing piece in her life that would make her feel completed.

Review: "Puzzle" is a manga that would leave you wanting and waiting for more. It feels like it could go on a bit longer, but it shouldn't. The storyline is not strong enough for more than the one shot it was made for. Read if you're bored, but if you have something else to read, read that. It was okay. Much respect to Satoshi for having the courage to get something published though.

Opinion: The artwork isn't the best, but it's tolerable. It didn't make me want to skip ahead so it gets bonus points for that. The storyline is kinda of weak and the male MC is a man of few words. I'm glad, however, that the female makes the first move. This is opposite of how a lot of cultures (including America) choose to make the female protagonist. A docile female who never takes the initiative and is always led by the male. The message of this story; if someone who you want in your life doesn't "fit", make them fit by constantly changing until your relationship fits. Do I agree with this? Hell, no.

*NeW tErMiNoLoGy:
One Shot: This means that this manga was completed in basically 1 chapter. You usually don't find another manga for it.

Psychological: Mostly fucks with the reader's head. Not everything is as it seems.

School Life: School age people. Up to college if the story revolves around that school life.

Shoujo: Manga written and intended for females. Mostly involves strong female characters and romance.
